Combined surgeries at a cost of one surgery Slavmed medical center has announced 50% discount for the surgical correction of deformity of hallux valgus and mallet finger. In the framework of the announced campaign the two surgeries can be performed only at 200,000 drams instead of the previous cost of 400,000 drams. Taking into account the fact that hallux valgus deformity is referred to one of those problems that may result in mallet finger deformations as well, thereby causing a number of problems in the normal course of human life, at Slavmed medical center it has been decided to perform a combined surgery at the cost of a single surgery.
The Development Department Director of Slavmed medical center Arman Kharazyan told NEWS.am Medicine that people with hallux valgus deformity can apply for this program. The program is also available for the beneficiaries of social package and those with health insurance coverage. And those without health insurance coverage and those not covered under social package benefits can undergo a surgery through a credit payment system with 0% prepayment. In order to apply for the program, it is necessary to make an appointment well in advance, since the number of applicants is high.
“This is an exceptional opportunity for everyone, as while getting their hallux valgus deformity corrected, they can have their mallet finger treated free of charge,” says Arman Kharazyan. The orthopedic traumatologist Artak Hunanyan mentioned that hallux valgus is a common issue with society, especially with women. The main cause of the problem is first to mention hereditary predisposition, as well as non-comfortable, very high heeled shoes. Usually it is accompanied by other pathologies, most times by flatfoot. Hallux valgus is a condition in which the big toe (hallux) is bent outward (toward the midline of the foot; valgus) so that it overlaps the second toe.
Hallux valgus may be accompanied by a bunion (localized painful swelling). This is both an aesthetic and physiological issue. People suffering from this problem can not wear ordinary shoes and should order special orthopedic shoes so that the bunion is fitted in the shoe.The patient doesn’t limp but the inflamed bunion causes pain resulting in gait impairment.In general, there are many options for performing such surgeries, but the type of surgery is selected by the surgeon, taking into account the degree of deformation.
