Neonatal Intensive Care

The neonatal department of Slavmed Medical Center is equipped with highly demanded cutting-edge medical tools, which allows reducing serious complications frequently encountered in newborns, and providing complete care for newborns even in most difficult cases, improving their quality of life.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is equipped with all necessary equipment for newborn care: radiation heater, humidicrib, infusion pump, phototherapy lamp, electrical aspiration device, modern equipment for respiratory therapy (artificial respirating unit and devices for ensuring  continuous positive pressure in respiratory tract, T-shaped reanimation device), oxygen therapy equipment (concentrated oxygen, oxygen flowmeters, oxygen blenders, humidifiers, oxygen tent, etc.), multi-purpose monitors that perform heart and respiration frequency, body temperature, oxygen saturation, blood monitoring, measuring blood pressure in newborns as well as enables to perform electrocardiogram. Newborn intensive care unit is also equipped with centralized and individual compressed air, central vacuum aspiration system, centralized ventilation and air temperature regulating systems. Healthy newborns care is carried out in mother-infant bed sharing postnatal wards. There are both private and general wards for two birthing mothers. The wards are comfortable and meet all modern requirements. The neonatal department of Slavmed Medical Center carries out a second level medical service as part of the same center’s maternity hospital. It includes structured units for both healthy and sick newborns care. The department provides round-the-clock service. The neonatal department of Slavmed Medical Center provides services, research and screenings for state order package holders, as well as for other categories. The latter includes an ultrasound examination of newborn’s hip joints, pulse oximetry screening aimed to detect congenital heart diseases. Consultation is also provided post hospital discharge. All of the above services and surveys are made free of charge through state-sponsored funding and thanks to goodwill of Slavmed Medical Center. The role of adjacent laboratory and instrumental research services is also great for providing good quality care to newborns, which includes round the clock blood testing, blood glucose and bilirubin levels, digital x-ray examinations, ultrasonic examination of various organ systems, and blood sterility testing. This list may be supplemented by more complex, advanced and specific studies, if needed.
